Confidential Inquiry
What is the Goal of the Study?
We are evaluating people 18 years-of-age or older who have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30-35 kg/m2 who are interested in the possibility of a minimally invasive, outpatient surgical procedure to assist in achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight.
What is my BMI?
Surgery is generally accepted as the most effective way to decrease excess body weight, but has been traditionally used only for people who have a Body Mass Index of more than 40 ("severe", or "morbid" obesity), or 35 - 40 if the person has medical problems created by, or made worse by obesity. However, obesity is defined as having a BMI of 30 or more. This study will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding. The study will also evaluate the health and Quality-of-Life of patients before and after surgery.
Estimated Body Mass Index of 30-35 * based on height
| 4’10” = 143 – 167 | 5’7” = 191 – 223 | |
| 4’11” = 148 – 173 | 5’8” = 200 – 230 | |
| 5’0” = 153 – 179 | 5’9” = 203 – 237 | |
| 5’1” = 158 - 185 | 5’10” = 209 – 244 | |
| 5’2” = 164 – 191 | 5’11” = 215 – 250 | |
| 5’3” = 169 – 197 | 6’0” = 221 – 258 | |
| 5’4” = 174 – 204 | 6’1” = 227 – 265 | |
| 5’5” = 180 – 210 | 6’2” = 233 – 272 | |
| 5’6” = 186 – 216 | 6’3” = 240 – 279 |
